Marketing agency’s work will help promote and grow Port Milwaukee’s economic impact from global trade and expanded Great Lakes cruise tourism.

MILWAUKEE (February 28, 2022) – Nelson Schmidt Inc. has been selected after a competitive review as the marketing communications agency of record for Port Milwaukee. Port Milwaukee is southeast Wisconsin’s preeminent distribution connection for access to domestic and global markets. A global trade and multimodal transportation hub, Port Milwaukee offers comprehensive surface transportation alternatives, including sea, rail and interstate.

An important focus for Port Milwaukee in 2022 and beyond is enhancing its commercial growth and economic activity that will support regional customers accessing new international business opportunities. The Port, in partnership with The DeLong Company, Inc., is building a $35 million agricultural maritime export facility that will add a new dimension to Port Milwaukee’s role as a connector to world markets for regional businesses and farmers.

Another focus for Port Milwaukee will be serving the additional cruise ships that will be embarking on Great Lakes cruises from and to Milwaukee, and the significant increase in tourism that will bring to the city. A $7 million expansion is being developed at the South Shore Cruise Dock to accommodate passenger ships from cruise lines including Pearl Seas, Ponant, American Queen Steamboat Company and Viking Cruises.

As the agency of record, Nelson Schmidt will help promote and market Port Milwaukee to increase brand and operational awareness in North America and abroad. The agency will also work in tandem with the Port Milwaukee marketing team to expand its international marketing profile by showcasing its facilities, operations and logistics capabilities, increase awareness and attract new business for its domestic and international trade and cruise ship activities.
